Global Ambassador Program - Deadline for Fellowship Applications

The purpose of the FCN Foundation Global Ambassadors Program (GAP) is to help Alumni of foster care launch non-profit and for-profit endeavors that will give back to their communities. Although these endeavors do not need to be child welfare focused in any way, it is expected that they and/or their entity will create opportunities to Pay it Forward to young adults in/from foster care through mentorship or internship/apprenticeship opportunities.

GAP plans to accomplish this by placing Ambassadors through a 12-month Fellowship that will assist them in creating and implementing solutions that will fill a need in their industry of study and/or community in which they live.

It is the FCN Foundation’s goal to help Alumni of foster care around the world secure social and monetary capital to change their own lives and the lives of the young people that live in their communities.

This is a unique opportunity to express solidarity and lift one another up.

No matter if there are three or thirty people, we are going to show up and share. This circle is about self-care, self-advocacy, reaching goals and taking care of each other. After you sign up, you will need to check your email for the Zoom confirmation and get an access code to join the circle.

Healing Through the Holidays Networking Event

The Holiday Season is a joyous time but it also a sad and lonely time for many people as well. As Alumni of foster care, the holidays are bittersweet but, we're not the only ones that need a little Healing through the Holidays.

Hosted by our very own Board Member, Rachel Dolcine (Author, Entrepreneur and Alumni) we welcome you and our Special Guest, Dr. Maya Rockeymoore-Cummings, on 12/19 6PM-9PM for gift-wrapping for Baltimore City foster youth and crafting (wreaths and coasters that you can gift to your friends/family or keep). Come make authentic connections with authentic people.

You don't have to be an Alumni of foster care to attend. All ages are welcome so, bring your family and friends.

We'll have holiday music, light food/refreshments and holiday cheer!

We would like to sincerely thank Dr. Rockeymoore-Cummings and her team for reaching out to us to partner around a Gift Drive for National Center for Children and Families (NCCF), Challengers Independent Living Program and the YES Drop in Center. In honor of her late husband, Congressman Elijah Cummings and their connection to an alumni on their team and part of their family, they wanted to contribute to a group of disconnected young adults and foster youth in congregate care for the holidays but, she also wants to establish an ongoing partnership to ensure their voices, along with those of other young people in Baltimore City, are an active part of the work she is involved in all year long.

We hope to see you soon!

Webinar: Mental Health Check-in: What is your 2020 vision for your (whole) self? with Kimberly Rhyan

Are the holidays tough to get through for you?

Each person's story of overcoming trauma is unique but we can strive to move beyond our current (or past) challenges by making a plan for practicing self-care right now & during the next year.

This webinar will take a look at strengthening resolve and  resiliency while building a positive identity.  Addressing mental health is an opportunity to intentionally focus on our own wellness. As Alumni Successes,  it is important to be honest with ourselves and have a vision/plan for our self-care. We grow when we move from resolutions to achieving solutions. Sometimes our coping strategies help us get through the moment, but we can do better - we can do more- we can heal.

Please join Kimberly Rhyan, FCN Foundation Education and Career Specialist, as she shares her mental health journey towards healing and becoming her own mental health advocate. She will teach participants how to practice daily affirmations through meditation, reflection, and journaling. She will also equip participants to create a holistic vision board for 2020 focused on the eight dimensions of wellness. This will be a purposefully lead webinar to close out 2019 and begin 2020. Please mark your calendars and R.S.V.P. now. 💙

Follow Kimberly's mental health and soul-inspired journey via @soulinspiredkcr.

Financial Principles of the Wealthy Networking Event

JOIN US for Networking and light refreshments as we celebrate the Support Our Foster Youth Program Participants and hear from Hasson Diggs, President of Professional Black Men, Inc. on Financial Principles of the Wealthy.

If you're working towards establishing a legacy of financial stability and success or want to know how to do so, JOIN US! RSVP at www.financialprinciples.eventbrite.com

Hasson Diggs, Jr. was born in Buffalo, NY and was the younger of two children. Hasson grew up in a loving home with hard-working parents who emphasized the importance of not giving excuses. From an early age, Hasson was a natural entrepreneur, owning his first lawn care business at the young age of 11. He possessed an innate knowledge for business that he continued to nurture as he grew older. To afford his family a better life and escape the limited opportunities in Buffalo, his father joined the United States Air Force when Hasson was in grade school. Due to his father’s military career, the family moved often, living in various places around the world, including New Mexico, Mississippi, and Guam. After graduating from high school, Hasson decided to embark on a career in the United States Army. Hasson proudly served his country for 4 years and received numerous commendations for leadership. Hasson also received the rank of Sergeant/E5 in just 38 months, no small feat by any measure.

Hasson belongs to the fraternal society of Prince Hall Masonry and is a proud member of Mt. Olive Lodge #25 in Baltimore, MD. As an active member, Hasson has led several community service initiatives with the lodge. Currently, he is also a member of Black Professional Men, Inc. – a non-profit organization that was established to address the social, economic, and political awareness needs of the African-American community; especially those of the African-American male.

He is guided by the following principle:

“Good, better, best. Never let it rest. Until your good is better and your better is the best.”
